Welcome graphic

The Clough Valley Chapter of the D.A.R. serves the Clermont County and Eastern Hamilton County areas. We are an active chapter with monthly meetings and are working hard to increase our membership. Originally founded in Terrace Park, we are now based more in the Mt. Carmel area but we welcome members from all over Clermont and Hamilton Counties! Recently we presented a flag to a contingent from the Army Reserve Unit based in Felicity, Ohio and were so impressed with Sgt. Paul Brondhaver (one of the most decorated soldiers from the current Iraq war) that we invited him back for a meeting just to tell us his experiences. We have had distinguished members in the past such as the late Nevelyn West who was known all over state and National D.A.R. circles as a historian and writer. In June of 2005, our chapter traveled to Wilmington, Ohio and held a very moving grave marker ceremony on Nevelyn's grave. Her family and friends turned out and it was an emotional and uplifting day.

Our Meetings

Our Chapter meets at the Eastgate Village Retirement Center on S.R. 74 in the Summerside area of Mt. Carmel. The retirement center is directly behind Eastgate Mall and has proven to be a great central location for our meetings. We reserve the private back dining room. We have a nice luncheon provided and interesting and informative speakers. Our group is comprised of all ages and interests and the discussions are lively and enthusiastic. The meeting and luncheon (with salad bar, sandwiches, soup, chips, dessert and beverage) is $8 for all months except December when we have a $10 hot luncheon.

Our meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month (from September through June) starting at 11 AM. Generally, the meetings last about 2 hours and always include either a speaker or a fun activity. We had a great time last year when a group of our members performed a skit written by our late member, Nevelyn West. Another good one was our Antique Quilts day where members were encouraged to bring their antique quilts and show them off.
